That you have to make the entire journey by one method only.
Europeans are the master of this and I believe parts of the US also have fantastic bike appropriate train carriages. Even here in Sydney if you suddenly decide you're too tired/too drunk/too whatever to ride the whole way, you can usually squeeze a bike into a carriage, it's not any where near as common a sight, but hey, let's just get people used to it.
The more they see it, the more normal it becomes.
Personally. I'm just back from a 5 hour lunch; and I'm not fit to pump up a bike tyre let alone throw my leg over and cycle home 2 hours in the dark and rain.
